I used to have an electric wok my dad gave me but we only used it once and had to get rid of it because it took up too much space. Now we have one to use on the stove and my husband uses it now and then. I’ll have to get him to make us something with it soon, he can make some delicious meals in it.
I don’t know about old electric woks, but the oldest electric stoves had buttons (as opposed to dials). We almost bought a house with all state of the art electrical builtins(from 1953) It even had a juicer attachment coming through the counter to clip the to juicer (or mixer)
Many of the upscale homes around here were designed with butler’s pantries. When the builders noticed that they had a lot of asian lookie loos, they changed the butler’s pantry into a “wok room” – ka-ching!
Being a musician, that is a good comparison Phil makes to being the conductor of a symphony. However he is talking too much instead of paying attention to the meal. It probably would not be overly rude if he could ask Elly or John to hand him some ingredients while he keeps an eye on cooking. My mom often asked me to get her bottles from the spice rack while she cooked.

seems like Phil still needs a little more practice stir-frying

Was her brother always this culturally adventurous, or is this something Lynn has updated for today’s audience?

Phil needs to learn never Wok away from your stir fry.
Wonder what he’s using for heat in panel 1?

It looks like there are buttons on the bottom so I’m guessing it’s an electric wok. Wok’s for me anyway.

It must be an electric wok because it’s sitting on the counter the whole time.

Cooking is a lot of fun and can be adventurous. Unless you are the one who has to cook for the family every day.

The trick to stir-fry is to STIR IT constantly!
