I’m with Earl on this one. Although I understand the phrase , it seems as though this little cool-speak is a passing phase and is not worth the effort to either repeat or respond. I have a hard time responding to the larger “What’s up?” as a greeting anyway…what does the greeter really want? A report or a “Hi.”
