There were comments yesterday about GOCOMICS changing its logo for GA from Walt to Joel or Rufus. The logo i receive online still looks the same as it has been for as Iong as I have seen it on GOCOMICS — a simplified version of Walt
I’ve heard “Dueling Banjos” from the movie Deliverance (1972) heard on top 40 and country-western radio stations, and I don’t remember it having lyrics!
In Greek tragedies, characters are taken offstage to be killed. Perhaps the invitation for Rufus to join the choir, which killed its harmony, was also done out of sight of the audience. His expulsion from the choir will probably be done very soon, I hope.
1: Is the director Clovia’s twin?2: Rufus reminds me of Barney Fife in the Mayberry church choir. Couldn’t sing a lick, but no one was willing to hurt his feelings by telling him. (But man, oh man, could Gomer Pyle ever belt out a song!)

Loved Rufus’ response…The artist, Jim Scancarelli, is an accomplished fiddler so the reference to “Deulin’ Banjos” is an inside joke.

Why did she ever ask him to join the choir? Was there a misunderstanding?

don’t mind them messing with the strip and changing icons as long as Walt and Skeezik are still there. They are the heart and soul of the strip.

Some choirs in small-town churches take anybody who volunteers.

I knew a guy like Rufus. Couldn’t sing a lick. But he could play a pretty mean guitar.

Can he sing solo? Solo I can’t hear him?
Can he sing “Far, Far Away”

As I recall Rufus did receive an invitation to join the choir. That does beg the question however, as to why.
