Well that was another disappointing season. I don’t mind saying that Gil’s W-L record has been taking quite a beating these past few seasons. Better be some baseball magic happening, or I might have to jump on the bandwagon there with peachyanddanny.
How about the effectiveness of that press strategy? Oh yeah, right, after Gil mentioned it the next thing we see is the very end of the game. Damn luck of the pig stops Milford from a title shot.
Haha. Ain’t it sad when you put your loser life on hold and read a comic, then the comic turns to be about losers, also. Well, that makes ME feel better, anyhoo.
And they didn’t play one home game all season as far as I could tell. I can’t remember how long I’ve read this strip (maybe back growing up in Detroit as a kid?) but has Milford ever won anything?
Back in the 1980’s Jack Berrill the originator of the strip allowed state championship teams. I had to look it up in my collection of Thorp reprint books, but they did. Maybe 49 years of coaching is enough for Gil. He has to be in his late 70s by now.
“You dropped the bomb on me baby, you dropped the bomb on me.”- The Gap Band. The Puerto Rican transfer will be an awesome shortstop, Mexican power hitting 1B and rocket arm catcher from Aruba. POOF!!! Sorry, it was just a dream.

Thus begins the tradition of stealing Hamilton’s pig before the big game.

Milford should have worn the white road uniforms they’ve worn all year.

“Oh wait folks, the pig ran on the court. Hamilton’s basket is taken away for having too many players on the court. Milford wins! Milford wins!”
