Woman: Negotiations update... his assistant says he agrees your title sounds more impressive, but his office is bigger, so he thinks you should get on the line first... Executive Ego Gridlock
No, executives have keyboards, too. Admittedly not much work gets done on them and most of the documents are passworded..My ex boss let his son use his PC and just by “accident” I found his English homework….a really dismal sci-fi essay. Why are some middle class children years behind other kids?
There is a Harlan Ellison story about two businessmen or politicians who fight it out in a virtual reality game with monsters and battles to the death. The man with the stronger ego and imagination will win. The ending is quite surprising, and I won’t spoil it here. I can’t remember the name of the story, darn it.
It is sadly amazing what some people will do and treat other people to get a bigger desk, more windows, bigger office, higher office, etc., and when all those around him/her are destroyed consider himself/herself more virtuous than everyone else.
You said: “This guy is clearly lower status. He has his own keyboard. REAL executives have people to do their typing for them.”-————————————He doesn’t do his own typing, He needs the keyboard to play online poker and watch YouTube while everyone else works.

It’s not the size of the office, it’s how well you use the putter.

The sad thing is that this isn’t nearly as silly as what happens in the real world.
