    More computer lettering. * sigh *

    This is one of the “modern developments” that made it easy to give up visits to a comic book store.

    And yes, I own some Girl Twirl comic books, and am happy about it.

    I think comics creators can be more focused on how their own lettering is imperfect than how visually jarring a computer font can be. Even a font created from one’s own hand lettering is obviously not hand lettering.

    What we see on computer screens is not perceived the same as what will appear on a printed page. Even the newspaper strips don’t compare to comic books and trade paperbacks, given how newspaper strips have shrunk in size.

    I would posit that there would be few, if any, creator’s hand lettering that would inspire a store browser to put the book back on the shelf, but the sterility of computer lettering could undo all the handwork and storytelling efforts that make Jane’s World so enjoyable, and hopefully, profitable.
