I remember a Dennis The Menace comic where his Grandma was looking at a rack with the sign “the grunge look” and saying “I never thought I’d see the day it takes riches to buy rags”
The only thing separating the women from the girls, or the men from the boys, is the price of their toys!“…But Mom, you’re not even trying to understand!”“That’s right, Kiddo! I’m not trying, and I’m not buying!!”
I tried explaining to some of my grand nephews and nieces at a family reunion how “when I was your age” most kids at school wore clothes like they wear now, but we called them hand-me-downs and usually got them for free.
If like me you’re a sports memorabilia collector and know what to look for, you can find some steals at thrift stores and flea markets. I once found a Michael Jordan basketball card at a flea market. I bought it for $3. When I got home and checked my price guides, the card turned out to be worth $800 as it was a special edition and in mint condition.
