I had no real money at Luann’s age….. she’s too young to work. She must get a juicy allowance. At that age, I got $5 a week that I negotiated up from $2
My dad passed some years back and when my sister and I were cleaning out the house we found every gift set of Old Spice we had given him, still unopened in the original cellophane. There had to be 15 of them! He wouldn’t throw them away because they were from us but he just never used that kind of stuff. My sis and I started laughing then she began crying. A funny and poignant moment. Happy Fathers Day pop!
I had plenty of expected chores involving his levels of responsibility at the age of 13 which is about the early Luann age and some younger than that. My allowance was low, but I could make extra money by doing extra chores and taking a bit of babysitting though most of that came later. Of those chores, cutting grass provided the most because I had to do the hill, too. And, yes, it was a push mower. Normal chores including watching my kid sister, cooking at least one evening meal per week for the family, cleaning, weeding, etc. were just expected.

Happens to me all the time. It feels selfish but it’s a lot easier to find things I like than what someone else might like.

When I was 12 I got $10 a week- but to get it I had to work 10 hours on Saturday and again on Sunday at the golf course.
