We keep a running list on the fridge. When we are getting low on something, someone is supposed to write it on the list. At one time I had FOUR teenagers in the house, along with my husband and I, and none of the kids was driving yet. I told them they were all old enough to write stuff they wanted on the list, and that I was NOT going to do a complete inventory of our kitchen before I went shopping each time.
And yet, the above scenario played out at our house multiple times. Or, I would come home from the store, and I would be asked, “Why didn’t you buy [item that wasn’t on the list]?”

When I was growing up, we only got chips as a special treat. They were never considered a staple.

Why didn’t she get Luann to help carry the groceries in & put them away? Kids make good slaves.
