The Jumbler is indeed making you and the MCU look foolish, Tracy—with the help of his de facto accomplice, gossip maven Wendy Wichel! You might as well sit down alongside Sam and enjoy the classic comic books….
Good morning everyone. Does anyone else think that since the collapse of the ceiling/wall /floor on Sam didn’t hurt him it would have been a wee bit more prudent and/or responsible of him to get off his tuchas (If the use of this word offends anyone please forgive me, not my intent!) and try to help capture Jumbler rather than catch up on his reading? Just asking.
This strip; although at first may appear silly and immature, I keep thinking. This is the calm before a storm. The eye of the hurricane. As a writer, I know there is need at times for a reader to ‘catch their breath’
That Wendy WIchel….she’s on top of EVERYTHING isnt she.. .oh yeh, and did i NOT “call this one” a few days ago with wendy making an apearance? i absolutely did! lol!
I still don’t get the poking the Comics through a slot bit.they all appear neatly stacked************************And thank YOU, JM, for bringing this back up. When dropping the comics through a slot in the wall was first mentioned it aroused reminiscences from many of us about razor blade slots. While thousands of razor blades could accumulate in the space between walls and studs in a typical house, comic books would fill that area up quickly and they would be all smooshed and wrinkled. The strip shows them stacked and arranged in boxes. I’ve rationalized that perhaps that was done after the wall was torn down but it still doesn’t explain the quantity and the good condition they’re in. I know….it’s just a comic strip…..but little inconsistencies like this just tug at the sensibilities of readers who like their detective stories to make sense.
Actually, some of us do miss the clever comments (nobody really appreciated the “snarking”), but SDM wasn’t the only one, BY FAR, to do that! His input did keep things lively.

I still say Wendy Wichel looks like Carmen Sandiego . . .

Wendy was created by Rick Fletcher and Max Collins in the late 70s; which I think was before Carmen S; if I’m not mistaken

Good morning, all. What I wouldn’t give to be where Sam is, reading old comic books all day.

Wendy looks like Cruella Deville! And couldn’t Tracy have all the building’s exit guarded? He’s Dick or FOSdick?

Wendy “Wench-ell” should just put a sock in it! Forget SBN, she’s more like TMZ.

Isn’t Sam cute reading ol’books?

How come those old comics didn’t rot away in the crawlspace or whatever they were found in?

Does he have his number? If he does he should call him up to say hi or at least send a text. Be rude not to.

I thought that Wendy was a take off on the famous broadcaster, Walter Wenchell.

Are we breathing yet, Ms. Wichel?

A female take-off of Walter Winchell, as I remember.

Avenger09, what’s with all the aronymic letters? If you don’t know, then I’ll ask my old friend, SDM. (Now where is the switch for the light?)
