Milking the situation for all they can, the rats begin the long and painful interview. OH I can’t believe I said that!!!If Maude can be calmed down to answer the questions ONLY and not sputter or spout everything she has done even before her husband died. Condemnation of self. Aren’tthere any lawyers there??? Should be, if a general sweep of civilization there should be. I am surprised that Linda hasn’t been making a loud fuss. Wait and see I guess. Love you Aaron. I might be going out on a limb here, but I think the Security Rat who spoke in today’s strip was the one from back on February 5th, in the panel that also introduced Velda. Something about his expression at the time made me think he might be inclined to be reasonable about this—-well, as “reasonable” as can be expected from the Security Rats—-and maybe this will lead to their release. I imagine the Security Rats must take the Examiner like the rest of Endtown…#Or maybe it’s just another bad guess on my part, like all the times I tried to predict how “Flask’s Story” would end…
Looks like they have ramped up the trial. No need for a jury. Just mark them all guilty, line them up, and see what happens. That’s the way THEY want it to happen. The question burning to be answered is who is THEY?The only thing that seems out of control is the Council. They seem to pulling all the strings. This looks like a plan that was laid for sometime by someone and I do not think it was Allgood and the Society. I will bet they were used as a front and to be the fall guys in the end.Allgood is controlled by Velda. My question is and would be the answer to who is behind all this is who is controlling Velda? She is not doing this alone and unguided. There is some kind of angle working here. Criminal Element? Conflict between other settlements like Endtown? Criminal elements makes sense but where would you hide as a criminal in a underground self contained city?Conflict between settlements makes sense as everyone is vying for dwindling resources. Competition for survival can make friends become enemies. It has been quite sometime as we have heard any details from what is going on topside with that satellite up and such. The only hint of serious trouble was from the lizard lady talking to Linda about her settlement being destroyed and coming to Endtown. Any thing topside is subject to discovery by that satellite so folks are forced to seek shelter elsewhere putting pressures on the underground settlement taking in more and more folks dwindling the resources. This would increase internal competition for supplies between the different settlements similar to Endtown.Cause Endtown to internalize a civil war causing loss of life and weakening the population would make it easy for another rival settlement to move in and take it over. They would have their own agenda and bend Endtown to their rules.
You notice the only one staying calm and not giving into panic is Linda. Maude I knew would lose it. She is not of the character to take pressure. Holly does her best to handle pressure but you can tell its beginning to get to her. Linda sits on the floor just waiting. Years as a self internalized topsider would have conditioned her for this. Maude is even confused on time. Has it been a week. I think its only be a couple of days. It that.
AND have we now met the leader of the Security forces? The rat with glasses who was once Flask’s assistant and gave Velda that look when viewing the video screen. We shall see.
I’m just wondering…if Aaron Marx mentioned that this was his favorite iteration of reality, and he stepped in once to ‘straighten it out’, would he step in again to settle a threat as bad as this?…
If Velda is the only path of information between the Council and Endtown as the security liaison, and Allgood with her polls, she can easily manipulate all of them. And she may be a liaison with security in a more romantic manner, pulling strings that way. She controls both information and security, but she may underestimate her control of everyone else.
Is it possible that once in the briefing room we find that glasses rat is also dissatisfied with the council and will enlist the aid of our ladies as covert aid in its downfall?
Well gota go for now. Capt has this Cross Fit training thing we do every Tues and Thurs. I am one of the guinea pigs.I do get to use a sledge hammer and smack a big tire with it. Great training for digging tunnels. (hahahah)
By the way, Linda doesn’t seem calm to me…she seems, well, depressed again. (And remember she’s already spent three months in a cell like that—-alone.)

All this because Linda made a cake for a sweet, dying Old Man. This isn’t a trial, its a Circus. Mallard quit sitting on your … HANDS and DO SOMETHING!

The three of them aren’t going to die there, they’re just confined there. They’re going to die somewhere else.

Kind of like Kafka. Except more people involved.

You have got to be kidding! Velda is nowhere in Flasks league. I wonder if AN is having a Boris and Natasha moment. LOL

Hmm, given the connotations, I wonder if Endtowners have a different name for “dust cloths” and “dusters”.

What will destroy Endtown? The Topsiders above, or the Endtowners below? Place your bets!

Is me or does Holly look really frazzled? Plus Linda is all there quiet. She’s thinking something up. Methinks jailbreak. We’ll have to see.

Heinrich Himmler I presume, again great treatment of Nazi Germany in the 30s.

No cots? No facilities? That can’t be good for their digestive tracts.Especially since Endtown’s diet runs mainly on canned beans.
