Except nothing in life is free.

i could never quite grasp the concept of “free range” . i mean, once you turn on the gas don’t you usually have to pay for it?

A prairie oyster is a prairie oyster. Personally, chef, I’d steer clear of ‘em ! Out here, ya never know where they’ve been.

I guess that ‘Free Range’ is the new and improved Organic. So retailers can up the price once again. I think that if it came out of the ground or from an animal it’s organic, ‘Free Range’ or not. The stuff we eat that comes from a chemical company is another story.

First I wondered, “What are they eating?” and then I wondered, “Where is the horse?”.

The raccoons like free range chickens. So do the foxes and the opossums, feral cats and weasels. Fewer chickens means more cost per chicken.

All this talk about life on the range reminded me of my favorite campfire scene, the one in “Tales from the Far Side,” a video short by Gary Larson. Remember how the cowboys I. D.‘d the alien in their midst by singing “Deep in the Heart of Texas”? Tried to look up the video online, but couldn’t locate one.

And after the free range beans you have the free range aftermath.

Most of what is free range in a desert, I would not want to eat.

Free range makes a difference when you buy local and know the farmer who raises them. Nothing like grasshopper-fed chicken that got some exercise in life!
