I remember this series of strips and I remember this being adapted into a TV special.
remember this. Schulz got a lot of backlash from people who didn’t want to see him write Linus and Lucy out of the strip.[/quote] Yeah. That’s hard to imagine since at this point the Van Pelt family (minus Rerun) were regular characters for about a decade. I’m surprised Schulz would have made such a big decision like that. I guess he wanted to make space for new characters such as Peppermint Patty and Roy (Marcie didn’t come along until a few years later). It’s something to think about.
I don’t remember this at all so it will be fun to read through it. I agree they could never have removed Lucy and Linus from the strip. While we can live without Lucy we can’t live without Linus!

When someone says to me, “Try to stay calm … I have terrible news!” in THAT tone of voice, the last thing I’m going to do is stay calm!

When I read this in Spanish, Lucy said, “Calm down, I have terrible news”, which, of course, was an oxymoron.

When I was a kid, I dreamed of “having” to move. When I finished college, I moved…on.

They could have gotten a spin-off: Linus and Lucy: In the City

I cannot imagine the strip without Lucy and Linus. It just wouldn’t have been the same.

Schulz wrote that he actually regretted not keeping this story going longer than he did. It built up so much tension and interest.

You do realize comic strip characters aren’t real… right? And that there are no actual children’s futures at stake here… right?
It’s a JOKE! Fact I was going to add “and by ‘children’ I mean all the faithful Peanuts fans”.
That also was not meant to be taken seriously btw so as not to hurt your delicate sensibilities regarding your obvious demographic.

When was the original storyline?
