“It had a swimming pool but we didn’t go swimming.” Ah yes, I remember it well. We kids always asked Mom to choose a motel with a pool, and she did…but didn’t pack our swimwuits.
On our trips we always packed our suits, because my mom would take us to the beach in New York City or some of us would go to Maine. She did all the driving because dad had to stay home and work. After driving more than 8 hours in a hot car with several noisy kids, mom would find a motel. It had to have a swimming pool because she loved to swim. It also gave her some stress relief and some exercise. I can relate to Lucy being crabby in the car all day. lol
I thought we were lead to believe that Linus would pass out if kept away from his beloved blanket for too long? Why isn’t he freaking out about his blanket being back in his home town and out of his reach?

The thought of being stuck in the car with Lucy all day does bring tears.

The glory days of 1966 when motels like Holiday Inn and Best Western were like that way before the age of suite hotels and Extended Stay Americas.

You couldn’t always see it even when Linus had it. Maybe it folds up neatly and goes under the shirt.

Riding in the back seat with Lucy would be absolute torture. It wasn’t much fun with my two brothers either, but with her it would be even worse.

my brother and I had 3 “musts” before we would let Mom & Dad stop at any motel. It had to have a pool, color TV,and a soda machine close to our room.
