No boy I dated as a teenager ever brought me chocolates. One of them did introduce me to Ayn Rand and Aldous Huxley, though. And another introduced me to Chinese food and live theater.

They must have done things differently on the Other Coast. I mean, what’s with the plaid pants? No boy I knew would have been caught dead in those!

Well, I see that Alvin made up for yesterday. Bet there’s tickets to a movie in that box and a mother’s day card for Emmy Lou’s mom.

@katina Are you sure this is Alvin? I thought Alvin was more of a blondy.

@emmyloufan1 OMG! Seriously? Purple and white plaid bells???! Nothing like that was ever seen on a boy in dear old Delaware!

@Night-Gaunt “Where were you in the 1970’s?”

Well, until 1973 I was in Delaware, where styles were heavily influenced by the New York folks, then ’73 to ’78 in a little cabin in the foothills west of Denver. After that, in a shack on the edge of Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge in southern Illinois until my return to Colorado in ’82. Neither of the latter two places had any style other than jeans and T-shirts, plus the feather-and-leather-and-beads outfits I and my other hippie-artist friends wore. Come to think of it, my comments above had more to do with my experience in the ’60s than the 70s.

I’m now realizing that I don’t generally notice the dates on the strips, and so may be making lots of false assumptions!
