    The number of typos in this strip is truly amazing. Where were the proofreaders when this was first published? Did this bother Marty at all? The language she gives Emmy Lou is polished, often quite adult-sounding; I can’t imagine she was as loose as this with her spelling!

    I can’t imagine why her mom would get emotional when she goes into Emmy Lou’s room. At least she isn’t hiding Alvin under all the mess. That’s one good thing.

    @dillio9000

    I don’t know about anyone else, but the typos don’t distract me from the point of the strip, nor do they keep me from enjoying it. As one who has done a lot of proofing and editing for other writers, though – and as one who reads numerous different kinds of periodicals regularly – I notice when there are more typos than usual, and this strip definitely has more. So I was just wondering about that, and thinking perhaps Emmyloufan1 recalled Marty’s having said something about it. I think my semi-regular posts here indicate my appreciation for getting to see these strips (which I missed when they were new because I was living in the woods with no newspapers). My interest in the strip is artistic, linguistic, historical, nostalgic, and editorial, not necessarily in that order!

    But I also understand your wanting to defend the strip against pedantic, petty criticism. I don’t think anybody here means to be petty.

    @comicbuff24 “Hope everyone is having a wonderful Memorial Day!”

    Yes, indeed, a nice quiet day of reflecting on all sorts of things large and small! Appreciating all those who have fought for freedom in all the conflicts in all the world. Mankind may be lurching forward by fits and starts, but overall, I do believe we are advancing. A happy day to all!

    Thanx for the support on some of the typos everyone. The good news…I think I’ve got it figured out. I was uploading the originals which had errors. However, I went back and found the “proofs” that United Features sent back to Marty for approval before they went in the newspapers every week. I uploaded those proofs for June and July rather than directly from the originals. I think that will eliminate the typos. Also…I uploaded the multi-panels for both Sat and Sun starting in June.

    Thanx for your support on some of the trial and error here getting it right. Well…maybe more error than right!! I appreciate all comments. I hope you all had a great Memorial Day especially to our veterans who deserve so much thanx for their service and sacrifice. Bravo to them!

    Hi Dillo9000! Thanx for the nice comment. There were errors on the originals and I didn’t want to make changes on them. However…I did find the “Proofs” from United Features and I copied and uploaded from those proofs for June and July(we upload 2 months at a time). I think that will solve my problem. It better or… I’m going to send them to you guys first to proof read!!!

    Now, see, this is exactly what I had in mind! It’s not so much wanting to see comics with no typos; it’s being interested in the process! Thanks, Fan1!
