Maggie’s hair do looks different; it makes her look low class. Where is Silly Millie, the funny kid in Winnie Winkle, Annie Rooney (the other orphan), the Cisco Kid?
Loving it! This is one story line that could go on for weeks and I wouldn’t mind. Maybe if Walt leaves the place, Slim will stay. Wishful thinking. Wonder if we will see Skippy. I am loving his comeback in reruns here on GoComics.
It is very fun seeing all the old characters!!!! Thank you! Also, thank you again for featuring Joel and Rufus on Sunday. I hope they come back soon to the dailies as well.
“Nancy” is still running, and, in fact, has had two major story arcs in the last couple of months: the return of Phil Fumble (who was Fritzi’s regular boyfriend until 1968) and a retconned Secret Origin of Sluggo.
“Bringing Up Father” ran from 1913 to 2000, and is still around in reruns.
Yes, Jiggs used to be shorter and Maggie used to be taller. And Maggie’s hair color is wrong, but that’s to be expected when the coloring is done by trained monkeys at the syndicate.
Ol’ George McManus drew the strip in my youth, and I remember a joke from one of his books that went something like; Jiggs and a friend are looking up at a newfangled airplane doing some aerobatics. Friend says “I’d sure like to be up there with him !” and Jiggs says “Well, I’d sure hate to be up there WITHOUT him !”Funny what sticks in one’s mind from 70 years ago…

Maggie and Jiggs – nouveau riche Irish; Maggie trying to play the role, Jiggs trying to stay real.

I really appreciate Scancarelli doing this, but let’s face it: Bill Elder he ain’t or even Wally Wood.

I hope Jim is just starting to hit stride on this arc and we’ve got a while longer to go. Henry? Little King? Who’s next?
What a treat if it becomes a parade of daily appearances by one or two characters per strip.

I don’t know about Aunt Fritzi – I thought Nancy was being published on line within the last 10 or so years.

Shouldn’t Maggie be a little taller?

Maggie has shrunk about a foot & a half. She used to tower over Jiggs.

It helps to have characters greeted by name. After all, it’s been a while since we have seen them.
