I don’t mean it’s broken and I need to call the Google repairman in the morning…I mean I’m not finding anything about anyone named “Alex Sims” that would help me make sense of this cartoon.
My only TV channel shows several-months-to-several-years-old PBS programs…
so I do sometimes get a bit behind in Pop Culture 101.
The name is incidental -—- he won a get your name in brevity contest on FB - click the FB above - I don’t know how to hotlink it -- the gag is that a psych degree isn’t worth anything. In fact, can devalue things. Which is not true, I use mine to cover a grease stain in my cardboard box.
B.A. in Psychology, ’69. It got my card punched so I could get a good job in the computer industry. My employer used to have a form called “Eligibility for Promotion” containing the line “College degree: Yes/No”.
So true but we have to work for it. We didn’t ‘win’ the honor and we aren’t in the actual cartoon. (not that I’ve really ever wanted to be in a cartoon.)
Jayhawk, I have a BA in psych from KU also. When I moved to Atlanta, my storage locker was burglarized. The diploma is one thing I never replaced, and never needed, either.
I never understood this, but my school (UCLA) only offered a BA in the Life Sciences, while BS was only awarded to the physical sciences like chemistry and physics. I don’t know why they considered life “sciences” to be an Art instead of a Science. I got my BA in Microbiology back in 1982. I hear, though, that they have started awarding BS degrees for the life sciences. As far as the usefulness of a Psychology degree, it will get you a lot further than one in History.

There’s no BA in Psychology. It isn’t spelled that way.

That’s me, dead on. I have a B.S. in psychology and spent five years working as a printing press operator before I decided to get my master’s degree.

Thanks, commenters. I was working on a Sim City connection to the name and not getting it. Love the B.A. is B.S. and hope that was intentional by DT.

From Facebook…Alex Sims, winner of the GET YOUR NAME IN A BREVITY THAT WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH (on the inside) AND ALSO MAKE YOU THINK! today is your day!
Drink deep and long in your celebrity! Please note, we realized that it should be a “BS in Psychology” but that felt like we were just piling on.
