Magnetic fingertips?! Holey Moley!I vaguely remember her having some kind of power a long time ago! (But that was a long time ago!)I love this story, revealing a little each day, heavy on characterization, and with Joe’s fantastic art!-————————————-And an especially timely Crimestoppers. Recent events in Boston have proven again that the police – be they university, transit, local, state, or federal – are always willing to put themselves between us and danger.
Who would know, indeed? Maybe anyone who saw the live news reports done from the Moon by Junior during the Moon Era, including one about the birth of Honeymoon and demonstrating her magnetic fingers to two worlds. See any of the strips in September of 1965…news cameras EVERYWHERE. Who would know? Try just about anyone and everyone.
Interesting possibility that Clone-MM herself posted that comment (though as idesama observes, anyone old enough and with a good memory might have). Good analysis, too, by Tommygunner. It will be interesting to see how the tale of Clone-Moon Maid works itself out….
In the sixties, Chester Gould’s strip showed broadcasts of Honeymoon’s magnetic fingers, remember? So the answer should be obvious. In any case, when Mysta, original or not, will visit the moon, she will have a nasty shock!I’m really curious how Mike and Joe are going to sort all out, whit what Junior, Sparle and whatever happened to the Lunarites!
If Honeymoon has magnetic fingers, how in the world can she use a computer keyboard? Isn’t it true that a magnet anywhere near your computer will mess it up?
To Sysiphos and others who still think Mysta is a clone, I still don’t think so. I don’t care how many “memories” you “cram” into that clone, that clone is still a different person.
Just ask any of nature’s clones, identical twins! And don’t forget, twins usually grow up with the same parents and life experiences as each other, yet they still end up being different people!
Besides, I think this whole story would unravel in a heartbeat if Mysta ends up being anything other than the original.
But I don’t think we have anything to worry about here. I still don’t think the old Ghote can clone a toenail – though invoking Diet Smith’s name yesterday would seem to indicate that he is still the target of the good doctor’s intended swindle!
Keen eye and insights on today’s wonderful strip, Tommygunner. Indeed, the art is especially fine yet again. The development of Honeymoon into one of most compelling characters in Dick Tracy is one of the many things I love about this resurrected strip. Wonderful work by Team Tracy.
A big THANK YOU go out to Joe for the great art and to Shane for the excellent coloring. You can always count on the Sunday strip not being botched by GoatComics.
I appreciate and respect everyone’s religious beliefs and consider myself to have strong religious convictions. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes, “To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under Heaven.” I don’t think a comic strip chat forum is the time or place for serious religious discussions or assertions. I would be happy to discuss religion with anyone in a private conversation but there are many different religions and there are people with strong conviction in all religions. No discussion of it in this forum will change anyone’s mind. Let’s keep the discussion here not about universal truths but about comic book fiction. This is not meant to criticize anyone, just my $0.02.

Also, a thumbs-up to Jim Doherty’s Crimestoppers Textbook. Always a wonderful addition to the Sunday strip, especially today.

The manga style in the penultimate frame…really bad. You guys have a strong enough style you don’t need to ape this sort of pop ugliness.

Judging from the amount of throwpillows on Honey’s bed, somewhere in Hollywood a harem set is lookin’ rather bare.

“The Final Inspection”
The policeman stood and faced his God,Which must always come to pass.He hoped his shoes were shining.Just as brightly as his brass.
“Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?Have you always turned the other cheek? To My church have you been true?”
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t,Because those of us who carry badgescan’t always be a saint.
I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I’ve been violent,Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,That wasn’t mine to keep….Though I worked a lot of overtimeWhen the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me,I’ve wept unmanly tears.
I know I don’t deserve a placeAmong the people here. They never wanted me aroundExcept to calm their fear.
If you’ve a place for me here,Lord, It needn’t be so grand.I never expected or had too much,But if you don’t…..I’ll understand.
There was silence all around the throneWhere the saints had often trod.As the policeman waited quietly,For the judgment of his God.
“Step forward now, policeman,You’ve borne your burdens well.Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets,You’ve done your time in hell.”

And I still wonder if the Moon Maid will turn out to be like Hank Henshaw……

Honeymoon’s on her laptop, sleuthing late at night
Perusing “Weirdness of the City,” a favorite web site.
Legends and tall-tales concerning Moon Maid’s baby
Mostly wild speculation, yet some facts and maybe
Something here select few could ever guess or know
Fingertips magnetic, a skill she did outgrow.
Neither Pop Pop nor Dad would ever speak of this
So to find it on the internet means something is amiss.
Is this another clue that Mother Mysta is alive?
Had she passed though fire with a slim chance to survive?
Moon people are not Earthlings, this she knows full well
Secrets of physiology? Mysteries none could tell?
Gossip on the internet, she never could combat
This fact about her fingers: How would anyone know that?
Sleep soon overtakes her: nocturnal vivid dreams
Walking with her mother, not all as it seems.
Mysta struggles with emotions, pointing to the sky
Says, “I am not an Earthling, and can’t so easily die.
Look for me to find you; we’ll be together soon
Separation ceasing beneath a waning moon.”
