Brutus: Veeblefester called me a sluggard, today, in front of the whole staff.
Gladys: What is a sluggard?
Brutus: I'm not sure...but I could tell from the decibel level that it isn't good!
Nothing like “Toxic Boss Syndrome”, where we laugh at it when we see it in a comic strip but decry it in our own work situations.…And berating a subordinate in front of the rest of the group doesn’t do much except make for a lousy work environment.…And for those folks who went through Basic Training in the military, the only reason it pulled teams together was that they were all stuck in that situation, where in a civilian environment based on the free movement of labor, when somebody out there wants to yell at you like a Drill Instructor, they can be told where to get off and the employee can even quit, too, especially when they find their next job, leading to a turnover rate where the situation at that job site will always be bad and morale will be worse.…Sounds like Brutus Thornapple better start reading up on his local Labor Code and see what kind of laws Veeblefeester has been breaking and if it turns out there is a labor violation out there, start documenting it and reporting it.
