You went and your family didn’t want you to leave.You came back in a box and now, they can only grieve.We are told, we must have war to keep us free.We don’t know why those in charge just don’t see.Why must we lose so many in war after war? Why can’t we tell those in charge “No More”?

I think “Dennis the Menace” also said it quite well yesterday - They call it Memorial Day because Thanksgiving was already taken.

2 Night-Gaunt49………………There is another section passed by congress and signed by then President G.W. Bush that authorizes veterans, in uniform or not, covered or not, to salute (1)the flag, (2)during the Pledge, (3)the playing of Taps.

you are correct, of course, and at today’s hometown service, that is what we did. The salute works better as a comic piece of art, as it gets printed very small in papers sometimes, and we cannot see the hand on the heart as easily. The spirit is there. Hope you understand.
