Producer: " well, the story of a pasta that takes over the world and cannot be killed. The restaurant tie - ins alone will cover the production budget.
other producer: " we're calling it world war ziti"
Varnes… . I…um….well…. I only thought of two words in that category…
Neither rhymes with “ziti” at all….In fact, er….one rhymes with “decks” and the other with…. hmmm…. not easy…. OK, it almost rhymes with “consternation.”

Old Dog…. sorry, but “ziti” doesn’t rhyme with “pity” (or “bitty.”)
It more or less rhymes with “meaty” or “Sweetie,” maybe a bit crisper on the “t” sound.
Beyond that…. Varnes, is that what you meant, cos I don’t really understand your comment …
…or for that matter, why Word War Ziti might be more of a joke than Word War Rotini or World War Orzo.
Once again, if there’s some cultural reference, it went right pasta me.

OK, I was wondering what “it” Ryan was referring to, so I Googled “World War Z” and discovered that it’s a 2006 book and a new film.
So…. for anybody else who didn’t know….there you go.
Presumably that’s why it’s not World War Taglierini or World War Orecchiette.
Now I get it.
