When I stay with my mother-in-law and her 100+ channels on cable, I hardly notice the difference.
I turn it on, scroll through…. turn it off.I admit there are a few things I might watch if I were familiar with the characters or premise…but what’s the point for one episode?
David — I agree that old re-runs are often the most interesting option, but of your whole list, I’ve never seen any of them available on any cable station at my (ex) MIL’s house…
You include several programs I’ve never even heard of… like Royal Pains or Through the Wormhole.
Most of her cable offerings are unbearable “reality” programming, with some news, political talk, or food shows. The only old programs seem to be on Nickelodeon…and they’re more likely to be 20 or 30 years newer.
If I’m LUCKY there’s a Frasier or Cheers I’ve only seen a few dozen times….mostly there are sappy or inane 80’s and 90’s shows I never wanted to see when they were new.
Sometimes I wish my antenna would pick up more stations… but seeing what’s out there…. oh well.

I get one channel….a small, local PBS affiliate.

And Bruce Springsteen thought he had it covered with 57 channels.
