According to Shatner’s memoir, there was no kiss. He turned Nichelle Nichols so the camera was at his back, so it LOOKED like they were kissing. The REAL firestorm was a made for TV movie when OJ kissed Elizabeth Montgomery. Can’t remember the movie or date.

Just googled oj simpson/elizabethmontgomery kiss. It brings up the promo for a 1977 CBS movie A Killing Affair, which shows the kiss.
