Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but the Star Trek reboot is not an alternate universe, it is an alternate time line. As far as I know, no episode or movie Gene Roddenberry had anything to do with invalidated everything that had been made before.
Correct. If it was just time travel, there wouldn’t have been a different history before Spock’s entry in this timeline. Unless the events of Voyage Home already altered the timeline.

Gene would have definitely approved because he was all about making the money, all the way back when Star Trek was just a TV show.
