Back in the day Art Linkletter made a living with lines like this.“Gramps, who the heck is Art Linkletter?”

Nice, Michael! Way to go!!

A fast turn around trip.

Exactly when that stops being a compliment, is something one can only discern with age, and the gradual knowledge of social graces.

Kind of an undiplomatic way to put it, Michael. But it actually does happen that way.

It’s lovely to see Michael’s uninhibited smile and total comfort in the arms of his Grandma.

Kids don’t know any better. But when you get older you just have to consider the source. There was this one little girl of about 10 who always told me I was old. To her I was. When I was 10 I thought people in their 30’s were old and I’m older than 30.

I think kids sometimes get tired of the “You’re so big!” greetings. This reminds me of the old joke:

“When I was younger I hated going to weddings. It seemed that all of my aunts and the grandmotherly types used to come up to me, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, ’You’re next.’

They stopped that after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals."

Getting older is not so bad. Beats the alternative!

When one of my great grand kids said to me, "Nana, why are you do old? I said, “because I’m not dead yet.”

Ha! This conversation played out almost the same with me and my aunt, only I was being jerk.

Dear ‘How——’ I know just how it feels. Any time we drove North to see our oldest daughter and her family, we scheduled our arrival when the granddaughter was in school so that my wife could prepare for the welcome she would receive from the granddaughter. It would almost knock her over. while ‘Grandpa’ would receive a half-hearted—“Hi, Grandpa”. Got used to it after a while, afterall, Grandpa couldn’t sew ‘Barbie’ clothes. Grandpa greeting is still much the same, today.

Kids like to hear that they’re looking older. It means they’re growing up. They don’t realise (yet) that once past a certain age, you want to look younger and younger again!

Michael is paying his much-loved grandparents a compliment.

Anyway, have a lovely time together, folks.

Some compliments are hard to respond to.

Its kind of sad since I know what will happen in the future. Kid enjoy them while you still have them.

My grand children tell their mother they want to ‘Skype’ with their ‘Nannie,’ but the first words out of their mouth are, “Where’s Grandpa?”

One of Linkletter’s favourite questions was “What did your mommy tell you not to say on the show?”

What about his love of the flight attendent?

Kind of confusing isn’t it? When the grandparents say it, Michael is supposed to hear it as a compliment, when he says it, it is no longer a compliment.

Serves her right.
