We had TV growing up in the 50’s, but my Dad limited how much we watched it. And I played outside a lot, by myself and with friends. We had backyard softball and kick-the-can, we rode our bikes and went for walks in nearby woods.
Outside straight from bed, came home for a quick lunch then back outside until dinner, and again back out until it got dark.INSIDE was where you were when you were GROUNDED.

Lived on a quiet street and played kick the can. Never had to worry about cars.

Except for bad weather, I spent more time outside than in… at least during the summer months. No TV but old shows on radio at night.
