Like Andy said some strip back that he himself never heard of a musical group called Plato.

I’m surprised Andy knows what ludicrous means..Maybe he remembers “Up Pompeii” and Ludicrus Sextus.

What’s REALLY ludicrous, is that the Mirror syndicate is actually paying these 3 hacks to write/ draw this daily dreck!!!

I believe it actually refers to Ludacris, a rap “musician”.

A very rare interview from Canadian Television circa 1977. Warner Troyer interviews Patrick McGoohan about The Prisoner. (36 minutes)

I checked out the Daily Mirror site to check out the comments, but you can only see them through Facebook. I don’t do Facebook, so could someone check and see if the Brits feel the same as we do about the Gang of Three?

last on the ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ [for now]Glen’s biggest hits were written by Jimmy Webb, the “Cake left out-in-the-Rain” Guy [MacArthur Park]. . . .also penned “Up, Up and Away”, and “By the Time I Get to Phoenix.” Impressive!

Andy found a fashion He likes [Cap, black Jacket, Braces, white Ascot (red on Sundays)] half a Century ago, so he’s got little taste for fashion trends:

Any deviation from the norm deserves comment; count on It.

. . . did Andy’s taste somehow influence Gaffer Tony?

[don’t hold yer breath waiting for an answer] ;)

Since we had the usual tired old joke instead of any characterization in today’s strip, I’ll risk professorly wrath and comment about Steve Martin. One of my favorites is his deranged dentist in “Little Shop of Horrors.” And I love his music! I have his bluegrass album, “Rare Bird Alert”, with the Steep Canyon Rangers. Some of the songs are serious, some are hilarious. Steve Martin composed the music and lyrics for most of them himself. (There’s even a bluegrass version of “King Tut.”) Steve Martin is a playwright, screenplay writer, short story writer, composer, art collector…….a true Renaissance man!

The ‘detective agency’ part was a joke because you watch Danger Man and other detective films. Sorry for the confusion.

Some speculate that John Wayne’s cancer was related to his exposure to radiation on a site used for atomic bomb testing and for his film The Conqueror; the number of people of the cast and crew who died of cancer was unusually high.^^You beat me to it

According to various sources, John Wayne was a six pack a day chain smoker starting as a young adult. As he stated in the Camel ad: “I have been smoking for 20 years” and that Camel cigarettes were: “cool, mild, and good-tasting”.

Sure enough, in 1964 he had his entire left lung removed because of “a baseball size cancer”. Fortunately for the Wayne family, and for his fans worldwide, his surgeon did a great operation and he had a successful outcome. John Wayne beat lung cancer in 1964; however he died 15 years later after a struggle with cancer of the stomach. During this difficult period, he became passionate about helping others fight this terrible disease.

Since I don’t seem able to post links (it must be some kind of 21st century thing……) maybe anybody who does like Steve Martin could post a video or two of his “Rare Bird Alert” songs, and maybe we can convert people over?@beviekI know you get to KC once in a while (probably even when Cindy Williams isn’t appearing onstage…….), but have you ever seen our Shakespeare Festival? I go every year, and some are good and some are great (okay, to be honest, a couple were kinda below average…….) There really is something special about the bard under the stars, with a nice picnic, a nice blanket, nice lightning bugs, a couple nice bottles of nice wine………..

@afficianadoI agree with you most of the time but in THIS case, at least, I’m kind of interested in Chalkie j’s research into the modern fashion industry…….must be that “Why, Chromosome?” in me!
