As a kid in the ’70’s and ’80’s, my 2 brothers and I had a rule, whoever gets up first on Saturday morning got to control the cartoons for the morning. For you kids out there, we had 4 channels back then and cartoons only came on Saturday mornings.
This was the first “Peanuts” to appear in our newspaper, the “Journal-Gazette” in Fort Wayne, Indiana, when it began to carry the strip. Great things were yet to come.
How bout if they both have one? In their rooms. Small. They could do odd jobsfor them, help pay. My brothers and I did, as kids, did errands for neighbors, etc. Helpedpay for a lot of stuff-we liked to skate- sobought our skates this way. They can walkdogs, water plants. etc.
In the 80’s, 4pm was for The Disney Afternoon on my days and Little House on the Prairie for my sister’s days. Back and forth, give and take. It’s not that hard, kids, with one TV.
Now, my wife and I have one Netflix DVD at a time. We take turns picking it. Again, not that hard. Lucy is showing herself to be built for the 21st Century, where everything is me-me-me.
amazing that such a large TV set can be moved so easily. Might be more effective just to remove the rabbit ears or the connection to the rooftop antenna. I’ve had to move some TVs in those days, and they weren’t light!
There wasn’t a color television in our house until I bought it. This was after working a couple years. It was a 20" Toshiba and it cost $600 back then.
when i was a kid i used to turn the knob really fast.thenafter awhile it came off.my parents had no idea who broke the TV.i have 2 older brothers.i probably said: one of them must have done it!
Good for mom! You need to take the TV immediately for the discipline to work. Too many parents threaten too long and act too late. See, I just took away my sons’ internet after yelling at them for hours to get off the online game! Now my days are so peaceful without them screaming at each other to “kill him!” “save me!” “I need food or I’ll die!”.
I bet when this strip came out, there were programs worth watching. Nowadays it’s what do you want to watch the re-run of the reality crap program or the infomercial?
The kids will also have to figure out what to do during the 25 minutes of commercials each hour. They can DVR it. I now know all the NFL cues to cut to commercial and can watch a recorded football game (2.5 hours airtime) in 15 minutes.
The only reason I don’t totally blame Lucy here is that Linus did not warn her he would call mom after she tried convincing him to change the channel. That said, he seems much more willing to go without the TV than her, so this could be a warning to her the next time they get their TV privileges back that he WILL call in the biggest gun in this game.
what wrong with Lucy she had to ruin everything huh??!!!!…if I were Linus I would hit her never mind getting punished she has to run everything huh???!!!!

In the early 60’s Bugs Bunny was on Saturday afternoons. I would have a fit if I missed it. We started out with 2 channels.

We have 2 TVs and 2 satellite pickups, in different rooms. That way we can each watch what we want, or record 2 programmes on different channels.

I didn’t mind some of their music, particularly their early stuff, but I really hated that song.

Well, they had the TV back for about one minute. And that’s just about par for the course. Better luck next life, Lucy.
