Paige: I think my sample advice columns turned out pretty well. I've got advice about dating, advice about food, advice about shopping, and advice about optimizing a sort algorithm for mostly bell-shaped distributions of data. Mom made me take one of Jason's questions. Peter: Ah. Jason: Figures she did the easy one.

I hope it isn’t the one about the “very, very, very, very, very, vey repulsive sister.”

Meh. The answer is found in Jan Leeuwen, if not Knuth. There hasn’t been a new sort algorithm in decades. My brother wrote one he thought was new; it wasn’t in any of the texts and I had never seen it. But he says he finally found it somewhere else. And that was, what, more than 20 years ago? Time flies.
