On the Canal here, there are lifesaver ring stations at the dangerous places, like around the bridges… mind you, most of the drownings have been from people driving their cars into it!
As we Americans celebrate our Independence Day, we would do well to remember from whence we came. The USA is a product of British Empire, as is a significant portion of the modern world. British Colonialism had many inequities, but it remains the greatest civilizing force in history. So, as we grill our burgers, drink our beer, and shoot off our fireworks, let’s remember where we came from, and throw in a sincere “God Save The Queen”.
I want to thank the British barons for teaching us that government must be bound by the consent of the governed, and British philosopher John Locke for teaching Thomas Jefferson about our inherent rights to life and liberty, and the British Parliament for teaching us that taxation without representation is tyranny (although we have since learned that taxation can be tyranny even with representation).
Oh, and thank you for Patrick McGoohan, “Danger Man”, “Secret Agent”, and “The Prisoner”.
Ok I could NOT decide which one I liked best, so you get two 4th of July Good Wishes today…and of course….Fireworks, Freedom & Fun Hugs ((((((( CAPPERS ! )))))))

I wrote my reply in plenty of time, just that this delivery method makes Snail Mail look like Speedy Gonzalez. -My “postmaster” doesn’t hit the files until late-ish in the day, as my Lady would, multiple times, unless her schedule happens to fill up.-Ken is the middle, Ron, Youngest. He is working his plan and I told him that if he can’t get the one or two with a truck to help move the large stuff that he can go to U-Haul or Ryder with his Ford Focus and rent a trailer. They have a bar device with a ball hitch that can be mounted on his car to enable him to trailer. -Big Bro don’t wanna go and give the appearance of running the job so will wait until he gets “situated” as he told me yesterday morning. He and a friend, with a small car, are moving the easy stuff. He will rug shampoo the trailer before piling in wholesale. I painted the entire inside of this place before I brought everything over from storage. Easy to work when the space is empty or near so.
I wish I could keep myself busy like that. Not saying that you probably enjoy it. I do find things which keep me busy but I can’t rely on them to pass the time always.-My cousin has been doing some painting too in his house. I think he’ll be finished now and he starts back at work after the weekend too. If I had been donating blood during his days off then he would have actually came with me but it’s a bit early for me to donate again yet. My next time will be mid August or at the end of August.-A very Happy 4th of July to you, Ron, Maryann (and Daughter) Ken, Carol, Eileen, Patty, Jack, Joe and Ed and also to Barb, Bassman Todd, Hippy Paul and Dobro Bob.-Sorry if I’ve missed anybody out. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if you say that I did.
Yes I know I’m a Brit but it doesn’t hurt to say ‘Well Done’ or ‘Congrats’ only once a year.Especially when I have very lovely friends from the US. You all know who you are.
Wow, the funniest one today in weeks! One of the only times I literally laughed out loud at an Andy Capp all year. (Was it a 4th of July present for us colonists?)

Must have been Guy Fawkes day. The Brits don’t shoot off fireworks on the 4th of July.
