One of my favorites…..and I did recognize these lines. When my Mom took me, she thought I was still too young for some of the racier lines, and I could sense her getting a little uncomfortable at this image….

Marble and granite are good heat sinks. Like a cast iron skillet, it takes a long time to get it warm, and a long time to cool. Plants are more likely to cool because of transpiration.

I just finished reading the book for the first time, and was amazed at how much it differed from the film (which has always been one of my favorites).

The coolest spot is wherever the cat sleeps. In winter it will be the warmest spot.

Strangest feeling we had – were exploring old cemeteries for family geneology. Late in the day, out in the country and this absolutely pure white cat shows up and starts stretching out on the headstones, moves to the granite slabs that cover the graves, follows us around. “Ghost cat”!

As a spoiler, the above dialogue was from a, lets say a young pregnant slut, being grilled by the police chief and visiting detective, describing what a younger police officer, trying to seduce her, told her one hot night.
