Personally, I don’t think that there is “too much” going on in this story. If it were read a month at a time, rather than daily, everyone would see how well it flows. “Calm down, Zy.” I like that.
Stellaluna has a tale to tell; to Tracy she spills the beansOf how she came to work for Sail, unclear what it all meansThat rather than flying in the Coupe she’s down at MCUWishing justice for the murdered guard, what else can she do?Colonization the cherished dream of her parents until banishedAfter the attack upon Mysta such aspirations vanished.Taking up her parents’ work: multimedia presentationsSpeaking to ever-dwindling crowds with lowered expectationsUntil a call from Doctor Sail gave new life to the questHe’d recreated Mysta and did audaciously suggestThat they help Mysta to recover, a long and arduous taskBroken in body and in mind, for a time she wore a mask.To be emissaries for the Earth was the chance of a lifetimeShe had no clue what Sail would do, no inkling of his crime.Elsewhere in a holding cell, Sail has much to contemplateShould Tracy connect him to Bardoll, grim will be his fate.
This cinches the innocence of Stellaluna and Retik, and it does look like Ghote has been played by Sail. But was the Space Coupe all Sail wanted? And where the heck is Mysta? I’m sure Smith has GPS devices in all his cars, so locating it shouldn’t be hard. And how is Junior handling all this? Searching for his wife, with Gertie watching Honeymoon and Jewel? (Just keep them away from little Attitude Plenty – that’s one dangerous kid!)This story has more turns than a San Franciso road map!
You said: “Strips that have a long term continuing story usually flow better if you read a week’s work or more at once than daily.”-—————————————I know. The stories in the Phantom daily strip usually last 26 weeks. (So the Tracy stories are reeeeeeally short in comparison.)
Soooooo… Dr. Sail appears to really be the mastermind here. No-one else seems have known what he was up to, until now. The main question remaining is… what was he up to?
It certainly seems that he wanted to steal the Space Coupe, but we don’t know that for sure, and we still don’t know why. In other words, just what is the major crime here? Hmmm.
Small nitpick: The flame of Sam’s lighter would be visible through the two-way mirror. But who really cares, because this story continues to be amazing!
It’s beginning to look as though the only Bad Guys involved in this mysterious caper are S. Tim Sail and the late unlamented Bardoll. Just what is really going on? Why did Sail want to get his hands on a Space Coupe if not to travel through space?
Didn’t the original story of Moon Maid,Mr.Bribery,Ugly Christine,et al,run well over a year?Mr.Bribery, now there was a nut. Also had multiple villains through the course of the storyline. Not to mention a plane crash,as I recall, that almost incinerated Tracy.
And the question also remains, just what precisely did Dr. Ghote do? His ethics may be questionable at best, but apparently he actually did something that would validate his research this time, instead of the same con he tried to pull with Mumbles.
Aaronious said, about 1 hour agoA “two-way” mirror is called a window. A one-way mirror is a mirror on one side.
I looked it up because I rarely get these terms right. According to Wikipedia, “A one-way mirror, also known as a two-way mirror, one-way glass, or two-way glass is a mirror that is partially reflective and partially transparent.” In other words, “whatever.”
I’ve been off line for about a week and a half while I was on a camping trip in Michigan where I couldn’t get any cell phone or internet access. It is good to get away from technology for a while but I am certainly glad to get back to Dick Tracy.
This story just gets better and better. Great coloring today.Great plot twists. Congratulations to Mike, Joe, Shelley and Shane.
This is an wonderfully interesting arc, but I confess that when the strip went Science Fantasy I lost interest. Everyone knows the moon is a dead planetoid.

Well, it seems that Dr. Sail conned Dr. Ghote as well.

A real Manga/Anime look to today’s strip! :D

Looks as if the brother/sister team are innocent of any wrongdoing; in Gould’s time, that usually meant they were doomed! hehe

IMHO Team Tracy continues to produce an excellent Dick Tracy strip. Shane’s coloring on todays strip is even better than usual.

Stellaluna has a tale to tell; to Tracy she spills the beans
Of how she came to work for Sail, unclear what it all means
That rather than flying in the Coupe she’s down at MCU
Wishing justice for the murdered guard, what else can she do?
Colonization the cherished dream of her parents until banished
After the attack upon Mysta such aspirations vanished.
Taking up her parents’ work: multimedia presentations
Speaking to ever-dwindling crowds with lowered expectations
Until a call from Doctor Sail gave new life to the quest
He’d recreated Mysta and did audaciously suggest
That they help Mysta to recover, a long and arduous task
Broken in body and in mind, for a time she wore a mask.
To be emissaries for the Earth was the chance of a lifetime
She had no clue what Sail would do, no inkling of his crime.
Elsewhere in a holding cell, Sail has much to contemplate
Should Tracy connect him to Bardoll, grim will be his fate.
