Cleats by Bill Hinds for February 10, 2008
Transcript:
Abby: Hi, Peri. Peri: Hey, Abby. Hey, Edith. Abby: You sound funny. Peri: I just read that last year was the 50th anniversary of Helvetica. And we didn't celebrate. Abby: What is Helvetica, and why do I care? Peri: It's a typeface - a FONT. You see it everywhere. The mall stores, street signs, stadiums... if you've ever looked for a restroom at a stadium, "LADIES" was probably in Helvetica. And when you went back to your seat, the section sign showing you the way was also Helvetica. I bet most of those product logo signs surrounding pro soccer fields, basketball and tennis stadiums, are Helvetica. A bunch of the NASCAR cars are covered in it. It's probably the most often seen font in sports. Edith: Are you sure about that? Abby: Now you sound funny.
