Crazy Eddie’s Christmas in July sale. Chains gone now and the owner is in jail. Something to do with creating excess profit. Went to Israel to hide out and they gave him to the Feds.
For me, craft and hobby stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s can be forgiven for setting out their Christmas stuff this early. People who make craft items as decorations or Christmas gifts get started this early. What I object to is the more general stores and department stores setting up their Christmas displays right after Halloween (some even before that!) and radio stations switching to Christmas music 24/7 on November 1st. That stuff gets real old real fast. It has been my personal opinion for a long time that the reason that many retail companies see much softer sales during the Christmas season (day after Thanksgiving to Dec 24) is because they set their displays up and begin their Christmas sales way too early.

Starts way too early! The meaning of Christmas is being lost in all the sales ads.
