    Is this a butterfly rendering of some other work of art, or is it a Lewis & Fry original? I feel like I should recognize the painting, but don’t.

    I didn’t google fast enough :-) so I’ll add that pointilism came out of the discovery in this time period that the eye has rods and cones, hence the idea that painting in points would match the eyes translation of the image.
