Sorry for flying off he handle, but the question is getting tiresome. John likes to write this kind of character dynamic, but this gag might have worked for Angelica and Chuckie too. I was drawing Maria like this when Kyle Miller was still giving Rita a ponytail, so the resemblance means nothing more than me drawing the way I draw. If this were Rita and Jay, the strip would be set 40 years in the past. And I doubt they knew each other as kids. Forget what Flintstones Kids taught us. We don’t grow up on the same street as everybody we’ll know all throughout life.
