LIGHTNING DELAY! LIGHTNING DELAY! I love saying that. Great strip today, Bill.

Except for the last panel, this strip is almost verbatim from one of my son’s matches.

Who is the guy in the cart? The booster president? Does he have a fund raiser coming up?

the game was delayed for three hours & didn’t get restarted until way after 9:00 p.m.

That must have been a nasty lightning storm. You have to have 30 minutes without lightning strikes for a game to resume.

If you’ve ever had a kid on a select soccer team you know it can get expensive. The event I was at was a tournament run by our soccer club. The guy in the cart was a tournament official.

Bill - The expense of having a kid play soccer is why we decided against letting our son participate on an organized team. That, and we didn’t want our family’s schedule to revolve around his soccer schedule.

Thanks. I’d have never guessed league official. The school I teach at just started playing soccer in a league this year. We’re still pretty informal. I went to take pictures of a game yesterday. The game was scheduled to start at 8 but the other team didnt get the word. They showed up at 10:00 and the game started after a quick warm up. The kids had fun, and there was no talk of check books. Probably someday someone will improve things and we’ll know better. But until then we’ll just watch the kids have a good time.
