Now this is blues:“Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison. And I went to pick her up in the rain. But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck She got runned over by a damned old train.” – David Allan Coe/Steve Goodman

I guess that’s why they call it the blues.

Shoe’s single panel version was better. “When’s happy hour?” “This is a blues bar. There’s never a happy hour.”

My old favorite line was “Nobody love me but my momma, and she could be jiving too.” My current favorite lines are (roughly) “You ask me, Mr. TV man, do I know where my children are, you ask me, Mr. TV man, do I know where my children are. Yes, Mr. TV man, I know where my children are. They’re on the couch here beside me. But their momma, now that’s a different story.”
