Jimbo: I guess peppermint tea was a mistake, Rose.
Rose: I noticed that you haven't offered your cup for Peekaboo's sniffing pleasure!
Jimbo: Too many options will only confuse her.
I had a cat who would always get in my face whenever I had a cup of tea. It got so bad that I got her her own cup & saucer (it was actually a “freebie”), affixed the cup to the saucer for less tipping, and on Saturday mornings give her her own cup of tea. Even though it was only one day a week, she stopped getting in my face, and was always right there in the kitchen on Saturday mornings. I miss my Charlotte.
Yuki loves peppermint tea. Whenever I make it, I have to keep a hold of the cup or she will dump it, rubbing against the cup. She will dip her nose in it, and her paws. She will also push the tin of Altoids around the house. In case you wonder why, peppermint is a relative of catnip.
My shop had a pet Tabby that went nuts over cucumber peelings. I’d peel & slice a cuke for coffee break and Clawmark would climb my leg, yowling for a peel. A great cat and expert mouser as well. Sorta tough on denim, though. :-)
I’ve mentioned this before, but we had one cat that loved, loved, loved bananas! If I left a banana on the counter, she’d slit the peel and eat the banana. Once I wasn’t thinking and put a banana-bread loaf on the counter, wrapped in cling wrap. She slit the plastic and had at the cake.

I know a cat that hates the smell and will run away from it.

So that’s why Macushla gets in my face when I drink tea. I usually drink coffee and she doesn’t bother me but when I drink tea it’s different.

Maybe to them it smells like catnip.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t catnip part of the mint family?

Silly Peekaboo.

Some cats go mad for the smell of valerian tea. Most humans can’t abide it.

Susie, if you don’t like Peekaboo, why do you bother looking at the strip? Go away and leave the rest of us alone.

I can’t stand tea (or coffee for that matter), But whenever I brush my teeth my one male gets in my face and tries to put his nose in my mouth.

Rose could make a mint selling that tea to cat owners.

Will Rose head for the leaning tree or the dungeon?

That’s so sweet about your cat. We had to give a litlle taste of tea to our toy poodle each morning and she loved it!
