If Charles Schulz hadn’t gotten trapped in a 1950s time-warp, he might have drawn this himself. It’s hard to read 40- and 50-year-old Peanuts reruns and rembember that they were once considered edgy.
BTW, ejcapulet, the word you want is “satire”. Unless that was satire and I didn’t get it.
A parody is a work created to mock, comment on, or poke fun at an original work, its subject, or author, or some other target, by means of humorous, satiric or ironic imitation.
Parody is by no means necessarily satirical, and may sometimes be done with respect and appreciation of the subject involved, while not being a heedless sarcastic attack.
Although a parody can be considered a derivative work under United States Copyright Law, it can be protected from claims by the copyright owner of the original work under the fair use doctrine.

sigh… what a litigious society we live in… my first thought was Teresa is gonna get sued, too…(is that correct grammar?) satyr, the curse of being quick and trusting your spell-checker…
You know, Charlie Brown had a very spherical head. I think he could have modelled for soccer balls. But now Theresa has messed that up. Somebody should sue her.
Who is Steve Pastis? His name is Stephan Pastis – not Stephen Pastis! The guy is Greek and his first name is Greek.
And who is Terry? Or Theresa for that matter? Pay attention, people… before the satirical satyrs devour you.
Ray–I am not above looking up “satyr” in the tags for unwholesome purposes. I just thought ejcapulet was referring to another Frog Applause strip, so I looked it up. That’s all.
I wonder if Charlie Brown has a soft warm hat for his parasitic head this winter. I’m not very creative, but I think it’d be fun to make stylish and practical parasitic head accessories. Fun little hats for fun little heads.
Sloop: My! You went even farther than I thought you would. Based on your comment…
What if Charlie Brown’s parasitic head had a parasitic head… and his parasitic head’s parasitic head had a parasitic head… and.. and… good grief.
… I figured you’d end up here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandelbrot_set (See the zoom animation down the page)

Thank goodness for laws that protect satyr!

When I searched the GoComics tags for “satyr”, Frog Applause is the only comic that popped up. http://gocomics.com/frogapplause/2007/02/08

Good grief! Charlie Brown’s parasitic head is staring at ME now. It’s freaking me out!
margueritem about 16 years ago
Other people’s comics are fair game for parodies. Teresa has done several others, as has Mark Tatulli, of Lio fame.
olivefoote about 16 years ago
What other comic strips regularly do parodies? Gweedo mentioned Pearls Before Swine and margueritem added Lio and FA.

Do parasitic heads make a squeaky dog-toy noise when you squeeze them?

Sloop: Then you’d have Erdnussbrot instead of Mandelbrot… ;^)

I made some Sloopbrot the other day. The birds and squirrels won’t even eat it.

OK, what happened to the armedillo levitating over the cupcake that I commented on last night? I thought we had a rare Sunday cartoon.
