Keith, all social movements in the United States, start on the left coast and slowly work their way across the country; that lower right-hand corner, it’s a bitch……but it will come around. It’s been a long time comin’, but a change is gonna come.
Agree its a joke she went to jail for it, but from what I have gathered there are still more black americans who make (good?) use of that kind of law to get off than whites. Ofc that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take a look at the law or how its used in such cases.
Zimmerman shot some one who was strangling him, punching him repeatedly in the face, and slamming his head into the pavement. Shooting the kid was a desperate, last resort.
@Tigger; you’re banging your head against a wall of ’don’t confuse me with facts’ folks believing their feelings instead of their own lying eyes. Her real mistake was shooting into the ceiling instead of shooting her abuser. She’d have gotten less prison time and the world would be better off.
As usual, Tigger, you’re missing Keef’s point. If she had actually KILLED her husband, there would have been no witnesses to contradict her. Sound FAMILIAR? She could have said, “I came to the house to get some things, my gun was in my handbag, my husband started strangling me, I feared for my life, so I shot him.” A jury would have had only her version of events. Sound FAMILIAR? Had Trayvon survived (as this woman’s husband did), Zimmerman might well be working the lunch line in federal prison right now.
Keef’s point notwithstanding, how did they find her guilty of attempted murder if she did not aim the gun at the man? Sounds more like disturbing the peace or reckless endangerment at worst. What kind of legal system do they have? What is with the 6 member jury?
As a criminal defense attorney with 20 years of experience in defending (mostly black) defendants, I can honestly state that you do not have all of the facts in either case, but have only what the press want you to have. I can further add that the prosecutors in the Zimmerman trial did an absolutely horrible trial conduct. You are mad – you need to direct it to the proper party – in these cases the prosecutor’s office.

Keef’s conclusion is, I think, correct. Sadly.
