This is not going to be pretty. Clone-Moon Maid may put what-for to Hy Pressure, but there may also be other aspects that she hasn’t anticipated. Maybe the cops will spot that stolen Smith Industries vehicle she’s driving….
Hey, quick aside – yesterday I mentioned Bud Collyer as the voice of Superman, and I guess I caused confusion. Collyer was the voice of Superman in the 1940s radio series, as well as the Fleisher Bros. cartoons, and was brought back to the role by Filmation for the 1960s cartoon series on CBS (where he was the host of the game show, “To Tell the Truth”).
Oooh! As much as I want Moon Maid to blast him, I don’t want her to end up in jail! Oh, just a NON-LETHAL jolt, Moon Maid! Please! Maybe he’ll lose his memory like Sparkle did and turn over a new leaf and go to work on the farm…. well a girl can dream, can’t she?
Hy lives at his office? Guess I just thought he would be home about now. As long as he pays his dues, it’s all good. And kudos to NightShade for the nice info.
How does MM know about the threat? She knows there is trouble, and that Nellie’s dad is selling the farm, because Nellie told her. BUT, Nellie doesn’t even know about the threat, because her dad did not tell her.
Maybe I missed something along the way, but when and how did MM get the " address of that horrible man?" and also why didn’t she recognize Sparkle the minute she saw her again? This whole thing is getting a bit nutty and unbelievable – please, don’t say it’s just a cartoon.
I see everything’s back to normal in the gocomics universe — MM with blue horns, green hair, and flesh-colored gloves. They obviously saved their ace colorist for this episode.
Nellie does not know about the hit-man, but Hy has been pressuring Pop to sell for some time. While the particulars of the escalation are vague to Nellie, Mysta clearly understands that Pressure means the Wheatons ill. She has a strong desire to do right by victims of crime. Diet Smith’s vehicle likely has a quality GPS that guided Mysta to her destination. She did recognize Sparkle and seemed to understand that the Zap had unintended consequences. That she seeks to interfere in Pressure’s plans should lay to rest any thoughts that Mysta has been brought back as a villain.
A stolen car is one thing…… a stolen car with SMITH INDUSTRIES pained on the side is something else. Can’t wait ’till a flatfoot tries to pull her over! Zap!
Everything in a strip doesn’t have to be shown. Like a TV police program. We see the detectives in the squad room. Next scene they are at the scene of the crime. We assume they drove there. We assume their car had gas. We assume they knew the address.
Mysta DID recognize Sparkle. She kept quiet when she realized that Sparkle did not recognize her. She keeps the scarf on her head not just to hide her horns but it also keeps her face partially hidden so that Sparkle will not recognize her should her memory return.
Mysta overheard Wheaton talking to Nellie. She knows that Wheaton is being forced to sell the farm. Perhaps Wheaton didn’t tell Nellie about the hit man threat but Mysta is telepathic. Perhaps she read Wheaton’s thoughts as he spoke to Nellie. Perhaps the conversation between Wheaton and Nellie was a bit longer than the couple of sentences we saw in the strip.
Wheaton probably has gas tanks on his farm to provide gas for his farm equipment. Mysta would not have had to stop at a gas station. A driver’s license would be the least of her worries at this point. If a cop stops her, she just zaps him and goes on. The cop would never remember what happened.
Nellie told her Pressure’s name yesterday. According to the last panel today, Pressure has a large office with a big sign. He would obviously not be too hard to find—maybe the phone book or a Google search (probably the phone book. I doubt that Wheaton is hooked in to the internet because he is pretty old-fashioned but possibly).
As far as someone spotting the car with Diet Smith Industries painted on the side: Diet Smith has a very large corporation and likely has a fleet of cars which drive throughout the city every day. So the sight of one of his cars would not seem all that unusual.
Greetings fellow Dick Tracy fans. Who hear remembers the old Dick Tracy Show cartoons from the 1960’s where Tracy sat behind a desk and had Joe Jitsu and Go Go Gomez do all the work? How about the Dick Tracy short cartoons on the Archies back in the 70’s? Moon Maid was featured on those cartoons so its surprising no one remembers her now.
MM2 is probably holding the wheel at 11 & 1 because she is a little short to drive that monster SUV; her eyes are just barely over the wheel… PS, with today’s smaller steering wheels and much more responsive steering, they now recommend holding the wheel at 9&3!

She hot-wired the car, remember? Why would she let a little detail like a driver’s license get in the way?

I’m a bit concerned here for Nellie Wheaton….it wasn’t Hy that was going to be doing the target practice………….

Oh dear, I don’t think this is the smartest thing she ever did. But we know the cops are taking an interest in Hy so they might be watching.
