Thinking about Moon Maid…I think she’s a human augmented at least in part by Lunarian stem cells. That would explain why she seems to have very weak electrical powers.

Melies was one of the great pioneers of film who was sadly forgotten in his later years. He was featured in the 2011 movie “Hugo” where he was played by Ben Kingsley.

Evidently Dr. Sail thinks his contribution to Mysta’s existence is the key, and is way less concerned with gaining recognition for it.

Can some one help me out – how do you pronounce his name? (I looked at Wikipedia, but did not understand the pronunciation markings) It looks like he’s going to be in the strip for a while, and I would like to have the correct pronunciation in my mind when I read his name. Thanks in advance.

I may shut down at this point. New villain introduced. Doctor Sail denies what Doctor Ghote has contributed to whatever cause or caper they are involved in. Mysta’s identity is becoming less clear with each passing day..A clone is still a fake. A regenerant is still a fake. Anything other than Mysta survived the bomb is a fake. No matter how much she thinks she is Mysta..I don’t expect the strip’s characters will accept a fake Mysta any more than moon maid foes accept Mysta at all. I also suspect that a fake Mysta will lose much of her support from moon maid fans, as well..The strip is starting to feel cruel..Especially to moon maid fans.

I hope Mike and Joe are having as much fun producing this strip as we’re having reading it!(Why do I see Moon Maid punching him in the right eye?)

Awesome new villain! Is that just a clever visual metaphor being used once or is he some kind of new lead on the Moon Colony’s fate and Mysta’s true identity?

This is AWESOME! Melies was made famous again in the movie Hugo a few years back. Great new villain!!!What a great way to tie in the moon..Love it! Great job Mike and Joe and the whole DT Team!!

l looked this up: melies . what it means is …me with round head will lie when the truth would make a better story. and …shoot and kill all that don’t agree wit me! and no-one is dat darn ugly period.

Now that’s a Dick Tracy character. Love the reference to Charlie Brown by one reader. At least he isn’t named Roundtop and related to Flattop.

I think I got “regenerant” from another reader, as well as another word I couldn’t even remember this morning, so, what the heck?.But I am a theologian (of sorts), which is why I am a bit of a stickler about same body – same soul in this new Moon Maid character..That the cloning process can produce a body while the original is still alive was the point I was trying to make:.A clone is a different body, and cannot possibly contain the same soul..That said, I am most definitely one of those who wants this Mysta to be the “real deal,” who can now add to her resume,.Survivor of car bomb!

Thanks to all who helped with pronunciation issues. I was just thinking, this is certainly a very Gouldian villain, but Chester would have almost certainly called him “Moonface” or something along those lines. Still, Chester Gould did often pull references from contemporary culture, and so naming him after the producer of a famous movie, when that same movie has animation that looks just like him, is very clever indeed.

Plus, his name references his physiognomy and his activities, since he is obviously tied in with the Moon in some way; another classic Dick Tracy element.

Melies seems to have bit of a pock-marked complexion. Talk about craters…

His face here is colored a light pink but on Comics Kingdom he has a purple tinge. I will be interested to see what he actually looks like on Sunday.

Méliès turned to a life of crime when his services were no longer needed as a stunt double for Charlie Brown.

All kidding aside, I love the imagination and spark team Tracy displays!

“Click”The creative audacity of Team Tracy is delightful. Méliès enters and the epic tale of Mysta’s return becomes even more riveting. Bravo!

This is just a guess — and someone will correct me, I’m sure — but I think it’s pronounced “mel YAY”.^^Well, for starters, an “S” at the end of a word (in French), is generally silent, Mé is prounounced May- li= lee- ès= soft e, as in bEd- in Fr, generally speaking, an s at the ends of a word is silent… Sometimes Fr names aren’t written as spoken, but, if this name is, then it should be pronounced “May-Lee- e” < e as in bEd

Dick Tracy has some of the ugliest villians ever!

Replacing the thuggish goon Bardoll with the evidently very cerebral Méliès is an interesting move.
