@Mineola: No can do: Remember, Gretchen must speak to her agent who’s 7 time zone hours away. Also, does Gretchen expect her parents to pay her cellphone bill?
Is this going to be yet another – “gee, Slim’s so stupid! How stupid is he?” – scenes?.After all, she has to call her boyf- er, fianc- er, what the heck is he? Oh, yeah, her so-called “agent” in Europe!.And for all we know, the free-loading Gretchen is, indeed, going to “stick” Slim and Clovia with her phone bills. She seems to have stuck them with just about everything else..Correction to Mineola above: First rule for permanent house guest should have been NO DOGS!.I know, that didn’t work with my ex-wife, either. When she invited our son to return to live with us, I said, NO DOGS. But she allowed him to bring his dog anyway..Already told you about how that dog urinated on $800 of college textbooks, just bought that day, less than five minutes after that dog got into the house..By the way, did I mention that she is now my ex-?
WOW! Such hostility against your children? Plus, you can’t be held responsible for something you didn’t co-sign for and if they were his books wee-ed on by his dog means he has to carry the books, not you.
I missed 30 years of this strip, so what was Gretchen like when she was in the age group who text all day? By that I mean under age 20. Did she expect her parents to do and pay everything for her?
David B; re. cheapskate; One can’t run a house with a spouse countermanding everymove or order by the one (I assume) is paying the bills. In my case, she behaved as if she’d discovered The Mother Lode and ran the house and business almost into the ground. We were all SO relieved to see her go.
David B: It wasn’t hostility against my own children. But I understand that in this world of “dog lovers” versus “non-dog lovers,” that to tell a “dog lover” who wants to move in with you, not to bring a dog, well, that appears to be the “dog lovers” definition of “hostility.” That it was my son, following that logic, means that to “dog lovers” that a “non-dog lover” must be “hostile to children.”.In other words, for the most part, I have found it impossible to reason with “dog lovers.”.As for having my son be the one to carry my yellowed books, I have no idea what you are talking about. After all, I was the one in college, not my son..Though that, too, had to come to a screeching halt when my son and his dog moved in..I had to get yet another job to support the two new mouths.
