Lio’s Dad figures that if you can’t lick ’em, you join ’em.

Good ole dad! Understanding, as always.

Better bring a lasso, Lio, in case you spot a Pteradactyl…

Two bland choices by Dad, one exciting choice by Lio. Guess where their vacation will be.

Dad’s not making any promises, just saying that he’ll consider it.

Mysterious Island? That would be Manhattan! Where the Bloomberg lives!

I think Lio might like exploring under the boardwalk.

This looks approximately like the joint efforts of my family to come up with a vacation idea … acknowledging that the mysterious island would be my wife’s contribution, and the two “boring” ones would be mine.

That’s Ray Harryhausen’s Mysterious Island, not Jules Verne’s.

Maybe dad is liking how son has developed a taste for classic SF that he himself probably read/fantasized about.

Just in case someone out there doesn’t know, “Mysterious Island” was Jules Verne’s sequel to “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,”
