Just a typical Saturday night for Andy [cue Elton John].

I thought today’s effort was pretty funny, but allow me to whinge a little. I hate the way MG&G exaggerate everything. Case in point, today’s “eee-ow, sheesh, and sigh”. Why do they feel they need to explain the drawing with extraneous words? One of the great things about Reg was his ability to express emotion with small lines and deadpan expressions, trusting his reader to make the connection. I know these guys are not as talented, but geez, its gotten where I expect the last panel of all their toons to be "Did you get it, huh, huh? Did you get it?

@SandfanLooks like you’re in the minority liking today’s strip, but I agree with you completely how the current team exaggerates everything and has to explain every gag. Even worse, they telegraph every gag so there’s rarely the surprise necessary for a laugh. They come across, to me at least, as if they were children just learning how to tell jokes, and being very needy for laughs without yet being able to earn them!

Looks like there are quite a number of nit-pickers today.

Long story, short story – it’s all the SAME story.

I think half the fun here is criticizing MG&G – (not that they don’t deserve it.)

@Mikey jExcellent redo! It made me laugh out loud. Much better than the one I drew in my head (since I can’t draw on paper, paint on canvas, or tar on driveways…..) Mine was just “Okay, Mr. Capp, describe what happened in words of one syllable.” “Pub, beer, pool, fight, fell in, fished out, help me or sod off!”

I’m checking out now. I’m just a weekend warrior. Will be back Saturday with more POGOs.
