None of which is as bad as being in a hotel, and having some fool drunk wake you up, banging on the door and shouting at 3AM, because he thinks he’s staggered to his own room.
When I was in college some guy called the wrong number and wanted to know why I was at his girlfriend’s house. I told him she didn’t want to talk to him anymore, and that she said he was a loser. I probably shouldn’t have done that, but he was the one calling me at 2 AM.
Yes the reason now and earlier that 555 is used as a prefix is because some people will call numbers they hear in movies or see in strips and to avoid someone being annoyed at that they use 555 because that number is only used for information.
At one time, the FAA’s # was 2631 and our # was 2361. Early one morning the phone rang…some woman wanted to know what the weather was going to do so she could wash her hair…my Dad told her if she’d hold on, he’d put on his robe and go outside and see…“Oh, I guess I have the wrong number”…“Yeah, lady, you’re right”.

In Ruthless People, Danny DeVito shows us a much funnier way to deal with wrong numbers.

I love it when they get mad at me when they dialed the wrong number.Laughing at fools is good therapy.

The woman has to explain to " Sam " that she’s his wife and dials the wrong number; she can hardly be married to "Sam "and may be a stalker…

I would have gone into the next room and gotten a paper bag, then blown it up, come back to the phone and…
