“Our Lunarian event”? (Our what?)“Continue with the original plan”? (Which is?)“We have a way”? (They have Mysta chipped?)Jeeze, these guys are seriously scary, whatever they’re up to. And just who (or what) is that “consortium” behind it all?Just when you think things are starting to be resolved…
Melies is a great new villain – his low-key air of menace is a perfect contrast to the guns-ablazing, high-adrenaline bad guys Tracy usually mixes with.
(And a great first panel shilouette! She is the lady of mystery, all right.)
I’ve always thought Sail was creepy, but this Méliès guy is really menacing. Sail’s obviously intimidated by him. What exactly is the “consortium,” and what dastardly plan do they have in mind for the Moon Lass? For that matter, what is the “lunarian event” they’re discussing? More intrigue, and I love it!
Whattaya bet the tracking device is in MM’s horns, which might account for the scars? Or maybe in those pearls so prominently featured in the first panel?
Sounds eerily familiar, “Ve haf ways….” New factoids at a furious pace. Lunarian event? Reacquire Moon Maid? The Consortium? This web of interrelated people, places, and activities grows ever more complex. It may already be well beyond the scope and reach of one city’s MCU (which is where Fritz Ann Dietrick and the FBI come in handy). Yes, this Moon Maid ghola (or whatever) must have been implanted or fitted with some sort of tracking mechanism: she’s bugged.
I just want to know who the Alien Hottie is. I do think she’s a real moon woman. She has the lunar DNA after all, and that would be impossible to fake.
Love the MM/Mysta Silhouette! And y’all beat me to it! I think she’s battery charged—not natural zapping. As to "what I remember (from a few days ago) She remembered Honeymoon—and that HM could zap people too!
they have ways of finding her… yet when she ran out and zapped sparkle, they had no idea where she went? unless that is, they didnt inform stellaluna and retikk of this “lunar gps system”.
i cant wait til the end of september! no, seriously.. i cant wait for it to get here so this whole “bad dream” will be over
next thing you know, theres gonna be a cow at the wheaton farm jumping over “MELLY MEL”s head :)
I am starting to believe that Ghote is an innocent dupe in a plot he does not understand.
It’s actually a pretty good “red herring” by Mike. He uses a character with an obvious shady background to make us believe he is complicit in whatever is going on.
However, it is starting to seem like perhaps Ghote actually did go straight after his fraud and attempted murder conviction following the Mumbles cloning story. It is starting to seem that perhaps he actually HAS made some startling discovery and is being used by Sail and this “Consortium.” The problem is that now he is in it too deep to get himself out. After all, Ghote may have been a fraud in the past but even Diet Smith is willing to set that aside because of his brilliance as a scientist.
I am starting to believe that Ghote will not make it through this entire story and his great discovery concerning cloning will go to the grave with him. If this happens, Moon Maid could actually be a clone created by Ghote but if he dies with his secrets in this arc, we will have Moon Maid but no possibility of future clones in the strip.
By the way, today’s strip is excellent storytelling. The switch of scenes gives the reader many new things to ponder while still keeping us guessing about Mysta’s interrogation. Brilliant.
NS09, if it isn’t The Apparatus who is giving moonhead his marching orders, then why did Mike spend all the ink on their meeting and sending in Bardoll? Since Moonie said he was Bardoll’s replacement, and Bardoll worked for The Apparatus, isn’t it kinda obvious?
Tim, doncha let them get you down! If you hate this story arc, keep on b**chin’; SDM will be along to help you out!
With regards to Tracy’s Hall Of Fame, I’m afraid that Sub-Inspector Dickens is nowhere near as inspired a choice as Dr. Frances McGill was. He earned a rather poor reputation within the Northwest Mounted Police during his twelve years with the force. He superiors (and his own father) thought very poorly of him and he had a reputation for recklessness, laziness and drunkenness. His actions at the “Battle” of Fort Pitt verged on cowardice, as he negotiated the release of his party police while agreeing to allow the 23 civilians within the fort to be taken hostage by the Cree, who fortunately were not as bloodthirsty as contemporary report made them out to be.
Oh, one more point on Sam Steele, in the 1930s a few novels and several movies were made (in the USA) supposedly about his life, however, as Hollywood is wont to do, the only thing they got right, was his name!
Another Sam Steele event happened when his jealous Supervisor tried to humble Sam by taking him out of the gold fields and onto a less glamourous post, the day he left the Yukon, the entire “Boomtown” came out to wish him goodbye, and even the crusty old miners were said to have been crying openly!
Well, there was obviously a plan and Moon Maid is an essential part of that plan. Eventually, we are going to find out what the plan was and therefore what crime was actual in the planning stage all this time.
I don’t know who “the consortium” is, but it seems like they have already put a lot of money into the plan and they want it to pay off.
