What would happen if a modern day cartoonist did a strip about a pet cat being covered in dough like that?

The Captain’s wife didn’t change much about her hairdo over the years. Love this strip!!

I hope the cat got his revenge later by doing something in the dough and they boys find it when they are eating the pie.

Why are they running?Back in those days cops were known for taking care of you by making sure you “paid” your way. It was common thing back then. Not really looked at as corruption but business.Later things like integrity, professionalism, ethics, finally came into play but much later than you think. My father as an officer worked with his partner who had contact with the local mobsters. They kept their “business” which was prostitution, booze, and gambling out of the nicer neighborhoods. So if someone came in from out of town and set up shop somewhere where they were not wanted my dad’s partner would make a call and the shop was soon moved. If not willing to move. You never heard from them again. All for a fee paid to the Chief of the PD and spread to those doing that work. My dad was a rookie so he was not on the payroll. Later the entire department except for my dad was arrested by the Feds in the great round up of cops working with the mob. Late 1940’s early 50’s.

The irony of the bottom comic is that the cop was either an immigrant himself (he may have come from Ireland to escape from the Potato Famine, or Germany or Russia to escape the pogroms if he was Jewish), or the son of immigrants. To paraphrase Buzza Wuzza’s question: What would happen if a modern day cartoonist did a strip like that?

@phritzg: If you read your history books, you will discover that in those days the Republicans were the liberal progressives and the Dems were mostly Southern white racists.

@barticle35first you assume that phritzg would bother to read a history book that started before FDR. That is when the real America started for phritzg.Secondly, he most likely voted for the man who said we have 57 States. And finally, phritzg doesn’t understand the ramifications that all cheese is free on a mouse trap. He just continues to demand more free cheese.
